Interesting blog on Bioinformatics.
Bio informatics are also focused to analyse and predict the protein sequence and structure.
Besides the sequence and structure Bio informatic Data Bases also includes the biochemical, gene regulatory and signaling pathways ane their Kinetic's database which are very much inevitable of the Systems Biology, that helps us to understand the complex biological system in normal and diseased conditions and there by pedict the rhobustness in the network and also favouring drug target identification, aiding the field of Drug discovery. Don't you think does this not form one of the hottest branch of bio informatics.

It is a great list. I appreciate the amount of time and efforts it would take to compile such a list. Since you have already put so much effort, this list would be more useful with web links for every department or company you listed and some kind of classification (like companies and academic). As of now this list is not very useful in practical terms. Again, appreciate your efforts.

No doubt this list is very useful for the bioinformaticians n others but what to do about the jack which operates in these institutes. Moreover,one of the major application of bioinformatics ,Drug Discovery, which none of the indian Pharma company supports because the R & D of the Pharma companies are not so much advanced.. this field is totally research field but actual application of the bioinformatics in pharma is still to be developed.. According to me this the status of the Bioinformatics in India.. If I am wrong then anybody will please tell me the actual status of Bioinformatics???

You can apply for jobs in India. You better apply for Postgraduates courses in India. There you will get a better exposure about jobs.
Great. Being an Indian, I know that India has only few real research institutions. Many of them are suffering from the tuberculosis of corruption. Same thing is true about Indian bioinformaticians.

hi geetha thats good thing what you are planing but you should have proper scripting skills like perl and java and also you should learn some statistical packages like R and MATLAB , then if u done ms bioinformatics you have a good opertunities, because most of the bioinformatics jobs are mainly looking for the computer background so all the best and select good univ dont go for small univ , go for some traditional universities
